Fadi is a young man with a physical disability who uses a wheelchair. He is currently in the tenth grade after being out of school for seven years. This year, he was finally able to return and continue his education.

Fadi lives with his family in a modest home. His father is unemployed due to a mental health condition, and the family faces difficult financial circumstances. Their home was not suitable for Fadi’s needs, as the floor level was approximately 80 centimeters above ground level, making it extremely difficult for him to leave the house and travel to and from school.

Through the housing rehabilitation program, the CSC constructed a sloped ramp approximately 12 meters long and 1.2 meters wide, extending from the entrance of the house to ground level. The ramp was built according to engineering specifications for accessibility to ensure safe and independent wheelchair movement.

In addition, the road from Fadi’s home to the main street was paved to make his daily commute to school easier and safer. Coordination also took place with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to amend regulations that allow students with disabilities who previously dropped out due to their condition to return to school once they are able to resume their studies.

Fadi’s story is a powerful reminder that disability does not diminish ability. With the right support and accessible infrastructure, determination and opportunity can overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
