The program aims to provide psychological and social support to patients and their families to relieve their pain and pressure as well as to ensure that they are given the right support and assistance if required.

The program also seeks to meet the general needs of the patients, including hospital registration and administrative processes and many other services.

It’s worth mentioning that the Community Service Unit provides Al-Watani and Rafidia Hospitals with a number of volunteers from An-Najah National University, Al-Quds Open University and the local community to achieve the program goals.

Program Goals

The Psychological and Social program is designed for patients who are in hospital for medical reasons, who may also be in need of some form of psychosocial and social support. The program aims at encouraging patients who are suffering from psychological difficulties to seek the help they need from doctors and nurses and relieve their pain and pressure to ensure that they are given the right support and assistance if required.

Program Accomplishments and Activities:

  • The program's volunteers provide primary psychosocial and social support services for the patient and family during their hospital stay.
  • The program's volunteers work to determine the need for follow-up services and facilitate the general needs of the patient, including hospital registration and administrative processes and many other services.
  • The program's volunteers entertain kidney and paediatric patients with educational activities, games crafts and events.
  • The program develops training programs for volunteers to teach them the skills they need to function effectively as part of the Psychological and Social Support Program.
