The Community Service Center at An-Najah National University spent 608,875 shekels during the 2025–2026 academic year on a wide range of humanitarian and community programs and services targeting students, needy families, orphans, people with disabilities, the elderly, and health cases, in addition to volunteer, environmental, and educational initiatives. This reflected the university’s presence and role in serving the community and turning the values of solidarity and giving into a tangible impact on people’s lives.
According to the annual report issued by the Center, the “Multaqa Al-Khair” (Goodness Forum) Committee contributed 289,764 shekels, in addition to contributions from university students enrolled in the course “Community Service and Sustainable Development,” who collected donations amounting to 416,100 shekels through the “Notebooks of Goodness” initiatives and orphan sponsorships.
The Center’s interventions included providing grants, benevolent loans, and financial, in-kind, and humanitarian assistance, rehabilitating the homes of poor families, providing health support, sponsoring orphans, and caring for the elderly and the needy. Ninety-one male and female students who are orphans, people with special needs, and needy students benefited from grants and benevolent loans totaling 49,000 shekels.
In the field of improving housing conditions, 15 homes of poor families were rehabilitated, in addition to carrying out three community interventions that included renovating sanitary facilities at the General Union of the Disabled, rehabilitating the doors of the Child Care and Mother Guidance Association, and equipping the citizens’ waiting hall at the Jordanian field hospital, with total spending amounting to 45,735 shekels.
The center also provided sponsorships for 132 families of orphans and social cases at a value of 229,786 shekels, and direct financial assistance for 122 families at a value of 78,700 shekels, in addition to in-kind assistance that included electrical appliances, furniture, clothing, and foodstuffs for 768 families at a value of 71,737 shekels.
On the humanitarian side, the center provided sanitary pads for 59 beneficiaries among persons with disabilities, the elderly, and the residents of the Mother Teresa Convent at a value of 33,719 shekels, along with providing daily bread for 10 families at a value of 12,495 shekels.
The health services provided also included medical examinations, medicines, eyeglasses, speech therapy, and physical therapy for 41 beneficiaries at a value of 19,130 shekels, in addition to supporting the autism fund with an amount of 24,750 shekels.
In the field of volunteer work, the “Community Service” course saw the participation of 3,468 male and female students, who carried out 173,400 hours of volunteer work in charitable and public institutions, while 1,792 male and female students donated 2,634 units of blood, in a scene that reflects the expansion of the circle of student participation and the transformation of volunteer work into a practical practice that enhances responsibility, belonging, and service to others.
Community work extended to the environmental field, where 507 male and female students participated in 18 days of field work that varied between planting fava bean seeds and picking them in the old university campus, as well as days for cleaning and beautifying the city and painting sidewalks and pedestrian walkways.
The tree-planting campaign continued through interventions in 23 schools, institutions, and homes of 37 needy and displaced families, during which 1,785 fruit trees were planted, while 837 male and female students from the Community Service course planted 997 trees in their home gardens, and 30,357 shekels were allocated to the campaign.
The center also allocated 3,640 shekels to improve the school environment, by providing sunshades and implementing purposeful drawings in yards and playgrounds, thereby enhancing the provision of a more suitable environment for students and adding an aesthetic and human character to schools.
At the end of the year, 42 male and female students volunteered to provide educational support to 179 male and female pupils with low academic achievement, in cooperation with the Directorate of Education and the municipalities of Asira ash-Shamaliya and Qabalan, in an initiative aimed at supporting students and enhancing their opportunities to improve their academic performance.
The report reflects a year filled with initiatives that did not stop at providing assistance, but sought to address needs and create a tangible impact in the lives of beneficiaries, through the combined efforts of students, supporters, and institutions, affirming An-Najah National University’s commitment to its social responsibility and its pursuit of promoting human dignity and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
At the end of the report, the Community Service Center extended its thanks to all parties, supporters, and students who contributed to these efforts, affirming the continued work to entrench a culture of volunteerism and solidarity and to transform it into a societal practice that leaves a real impact on human life.
