In response to an urgent humanitarian case, the center carried out maintenance and rehabilitation work for the home of a needy family. The maintenance included repainting the entire house, treating the effects of moisture, repairing and replacing the damaged kitchen cabinets and doors, and maintaining the basic facilities inside the house, including rehabilitating a façade in the bathroom and changing its window and door.

It was not merely maintenance and renovation work for a family’s house in Balata Camp; it was a psychological and humanitarian transformation for the family members who had lived for a long period under the pressure of harsh living conditions. The moisture and damage that affected the house’s facilities did not only impact their physical safety, but also caused a state of constant anxiety and psychological instability, especially among the children and the mother who bears the burdens of daily care in light of the husband’s chronic illness.

The house lacked the minimum requirements for a dignified life, as moisture had spread extensively on the walls and ceilings, while the main door was damaged, in addition to the erosion and breaking of the kitchen cabinets due to moisture, as well as the deterioration of the interior doors and the bathroom door and its window. This posed a direct threat to the safety of the family members and affected their psychological and living stability.

The rehabilitation work helped restore the family’s sense of safety and reassurance inside their home, after they had been living in an environment lacking privacy and comfort. The renovation of the doors and basic facilities and the improvement of the house’s appearance also gave the family members a sense of dignity and community care, which positively reflected on their psychological state and daily morale.

The contribution of the Community Service Center to the implementation of the project amounted to about 3,000 shekels, as the rehabilitation work was carried out according to a well-studied technical plan within the housing improvement and rehabilitation program, in a way that enhances safety factors inside the house and grants the family a more humane life that preserves And alleviates the harshness of the conditions in which she lives.
