The Community Service and Continuing Education Center at An-Najah National University continues to rehabilitate homes of needy families through its Housing Rehabilitation Program, one of the Center’s main initiatives, with the goal of improving the health and social conditions of these families.

Over the past two months, the program has completed eight cases, made possible through generous donations from friends of the Center who support its mission, as well as proceeds from charity cards purchased by university students to fund the Center’s various programs. These efforts were carried out in partnership and cooperation with several local entities.

The cases were distributed as follows: four in Nablus and four in surrounding villages, including six cases of poor families and two cases of elderly women.

One notable case involved M.S. from the town of Sabsita, a poor family of six members plus the grandmother living in a modest house with deteriorated flooring. In partnership with the Sabsita Municipality and local authorities, the floors of the rooms were retiled with new tiles.

Another significant case was that of W.A. from the town of Qabalan, a poor family with a child who uses a wheelchair. Due to the poor condition of the road leading to the house entrance, the family had difficulty moving the child in and out. In cooperation with the Young Men’s Christian Association and the Qabalan Municipality, a concrete ramp was constructed along the entire road to facilitate the child’s mobility.

The program also assisted a woman suffering from kidney failure in the village of Azmout, who lived in a single room without electricity and a bathroom without a door. In coordination with the Village Council, the Northern Electricity Company, and with a generous contribution from the Solidarity Charitable Association covering an electricity subscription, the Center installed an aluminum door for the bathroom and a window for the room.

In addition, the program provided consultations and engineering follow-up for several other intervention cases.

Mr. Osama Bani Odeh expressed his appreciation to everyone who contributed to these interventions, whether through material or moral support, especially the community service students who helped finance the Center’s activities by marketing charity cards.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Jaitan, social worker at the Center, also thanked the staff and volunteers for their efforts and praised the generous donors who supported the funding of these interventions, emphasizing that adequate and healthy housing is a fundamental right for every citizen.
