Community Support Education is a social and educational program that provides academic assistance to school students with low academic achievement. These challenges often stem from difficult family environments. Such environments include social and economic factors that affect a child’s development. Examples include orphanhood, parental separation, low parental literacy or education levels, large family size, poor housing conditions, and overcrowding. These factors can have a lasting impact on a child’s academic performance and personal growth.
The program is jointly supervised by the Community Service Center and the Directorate of Education. Both parties coordinate to identify schools most in need of support, establish clear criteria for selecting beneficiary students, and jointly monitor and evaluate the program’s progress. School administrations at approved program sites also play an active role in overseeing daily implementation.
Each volunteer works closely with a small group of students, with a maximum of five children per group. In certain cases, support is provided on an individual basis. Volunteers assist students in reviewing their lessons, with a focus on homework completion and exam preparation. This close interaction helps identify learning difficulties and supports students in overcoming them.
The program is implemented by volunteers enrolled in the Community Service Course. Each volunteer completes thirty hours of service at a local school, focusing on improving academic achievement in a specific subject for one student.
