With the participation of 70 male and female students, the Community Service Center and the Parks Department at An-Najah National University organized an olive harvesting event at the new campus “The Academy,” as part of the practical application of the course “Community Service and Sustainable Development”.

The activity targeted the green areas near the Faculty of Medicine and the university amphitheater, where the fieldwork turned into a rich interactive space that enhanced teamwork and a spirit of initiative. The initiative reinforced awareness of the importance of the olive tree and its symbolic and economic value in Palestinian culture, in addition to providing agricultural guidance on annual tree care.

This experience formed an opportunity to deepen students’ connection to the land through “learning by doing,” between those discovering the basics of harvesting for the first time and those recalling inherited family experiences, with participants concluding their day with a tangible impact and feelings of pride in themselves and in their university environment.
