The Community Service Center at Ibn Sina Elementary School for Girls in Nablus concluded the second phase of its environmental and agricultural campaign, which has so far resulted in the planting of 2,209 trees in school and home gardens. The winter planting season ended with the addition of 30 olive trees in the school garden, which had been carefully prepared for this purpose.

The center organized a field day for cleaning and planting in partnership with the Directorate of Education, with the participation of Professor Dr. [Name], President of An-Najah National University, the Governor of Nablus, the Mayor of Nablus, and the Director of the Directorate of Education in Nablus.

The event included 25 male and female volunteers from the community service course, along with school staff under the supervision of Professor Dalia Sharaqa, and eighth and ninth grade students. The schoolyards became a vibrant open workshop, with activities divided between cleaning the yards and removing waste, picking and distributing fruits from the trees, removing branches caught on the dividing wall, and planting the olive trees.

This achievement marks the culmination of the center’s efforts to rehabilitate the school garden, which began in mid-January after the Community Service Center identified urgent needs, including cracked fences, an unsuitable backyard, dry trees blocking sunlight, and other environmental conditions that limited the students’ enjoyment of their green spaces in a school that dates back to the early twentieth century.

Over several days, the center repaired cracks and holes in the fences, removed dry trees and harmful weeds, and transported two truckloads of waste to designated dumps. The land was leveled with a bulldozer to prepare for planting, and wastewater issues were addressed in coordination with relevant authorities, ensuring a safe and welcoming educational environment for the students.

The transformation has had a significant psychological impact on the students, who actively participated in reviving the garden, planting trees with their own hands, and regaining a sense of security and belonging.

The center emphasizes that this initiative goes beyond a simple environmental activity. It represents a meaningful investment in the dignity of the school and the psychological well-being of its students, sending a clear message that a school environment is not just walls and courtyards, but a fundamental right to safety, light, and life.
