An-Najah National University has highlighted the significant contributions of its students in promoting sustainable development across Palestine. Between August 2023 and August 2024, students enrolled in the Community Service course took part in a range of impactful initiatives that addressed critical societal and environmental needs.
One of the most notable contributions was the donation of over 6,000 units of blood to both governmental hospitals and the university's own hospital, helping to meet urgent healthcare demands. In addition, more than 4,000 students volunteered across various institutions in cities, villages, and refugee camps, providing vital support to communities in need.
Environmental sustainability was another key focus of the students' efforts. A total of 450 students participated in 21 environmental field activities, including tree planting and site clean-ups, raising awareness about the importance of ecological preservation.
Students also provided much-needed psychological support to patients at the pediatric oncology and nephrology departments of An-Najah University Hospital. Medical and psychology students visited the wards, offering comfort and distributing gifts to young patients in treatment.
To improve accessibility for visually impaired students, the initiative produced 30 Braille books, ensuring that blind students had better opportunities for educational inclusion. Additionally, students collected and distributed 280 items of clothing to underprivileged families and schoolchildren, reinforcing social responsibility within the community.
These initiatives showcase An-Najah University’s dedication to merging academic learning with active community service, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to societal development and sustainability.
