CSC, in partnership with the Siris Village Council and the Ministry of Agriculture, launched a major planting campaign in the town of Siris on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
During the campaign, 803 trees were planted with the active participation of 56 volunteers. The event reflected a strong spirit of giving and social responsibility.
The campaign included the planting of 365 forest trees in several locations, most notably at the main entrance of the town, along the new road leading to the forests, and on both sides of the road adjacent to the boys’ high school. These efforts aimed to improve the overall landscape and enhance vegetation cover in public spaces.
In addition, 438 olive trees were distributed to 30 families in need after their social conditions were assessed by the village council. These families included elderly individuals, people with disabilities, patients, and unemployed residents. The campaign also included planting 19 olive trees in the gardens of Siris Boys’ High School.
CSC expressed its appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture for providing the forest seedlings and commended the Siris Village Council for its key role in ensuring the success of the campaign. This included logistical support before and during the activity, as well as continued follow-up on watering and caring for the trees to ensure their sustainability.
This initiative is part of the university’s broader afforestation campaign, which aims to expand green spaces, raise environmental awareness, and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, particularly in biodiversity conservation and efforts to address climate change.
CSC affirmed that the campaign will continue in several towns and villages. Future activities will cover residential entrances, government lands, and school gardens, as part of a long-term vision to build a healthy and sustainable environment that serves the present and safeguards the future for coming generations.
