The CSC carried out an agricultural activity at Sheikh Mohammed Tuffaha Basic School for Girls, where 35 cypress trees were planted along the sidewalk surrounding the school. The site had been previously prepared with designated planting holes, allowing for an organized and efficient planting process.

This effort is part of a broader plan to plant 60 forest trees at the site. However, challenging ground conditions, including hard soil and an underlying concrete layer, required specialized excavation using professional equipment to remove asphalt and concrete barriers. These steps were necessary to create a suitable environment for root growth and ensure the long-term sustainability of the trees.

Volunteers took part in all stages of the activity, from removing unsuitable soil and preparing proper planting material to planting the saplings and cleaning the site. This collaborative effort reflected a strong sense of teamwork and community engagement. All designated planting holes have now been prepared, and the remaining 25 will be planted with jacaranda trees during a future workday.

To protect the newly planted trees, each one was secured with iron mesh to prevent damage and reduce external risks. A reliable water source was also ensured to support regular irrigation and long-term growth.

This activity builds on previous efforts at the school. During earlier field days, 37 olive trees were planted in both the internal and external courtyards after comprehensive land rehabilitation made the area suitable for cultivation.

The event also included the active participation of twelfth-grade students from the American Academy as part of a structured volunteer program coordinated with the CSC. The program aims to strengthen environmental awareness and promote values of community engagement and volunteerism among students.

This campaign seeks to instill positive environmental values in younger generations and encourage participation in agriculture through the planting of forest and fruit trees. In doing so, it contributes to future food security and environmental sustainability. Led by An-Najah National University and implemented through the CSC, this initiative reflects a strong and ongoing commitment to environmental protection and the expansion of green spaces.
