During the second semester of the 2024–2025 academic year, students in the Community Service course planted 208 almond and citrus trees in the gardens of their homes across various regions of the country.
Each student documented the process through a video showcasing their planting activity as part of the course requirements. The task involved planting either a fruit-bearing or forest tree, caring for it, and ensuring proper irrigation. The goal was for students to foster a deeper connection to the land and promote agricultural awareness.
This initiative follows a previous campaign last fall, during which 464 trees were planted in the gardens of nineteen schools and charitable institutions. These included 277 olive seedlings, 15 citrus trees, and 45 forest trees, in addition to 127 fruit trees planted by Community Service students in their home gardens.
The effort is inspired by the Hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad said: “If one of you has a seedling in his hand, let him plant it.” The campaign was recently launched by An-Najah National University to plant trees in schools, parks, institutions, and public facilities. So far, the center has planted 277 trees and plans to plant more than 3,000 over the next three years. This initiative is part of the university’s commitment to achieving sustainable development goals and using its resources for the benefit of society and the environment.
