During the second semester of 2024-2025 academic year, Students of the community service course planted 208 almond and citrus fruit trees in the gardens of their homes across various regions in the country.
Each student documented the process through a video showing their planting activity, as part of the course requirement. The task involved planting either a fruit-bearing or forest tree, caring for it, and ensuring proper irrigation — with the aim of fostering a sense of connection to the land and promoting agricultural awareness.
This initiative follows a previous campaign last fall where 464 trees were planted in the gardens of nineteen schools and charitable institutions, including 277 olive seedlings, 15 citrus trees, and 45 forest trees, in addition to the planting of 127 fruit trees by students of the community service course in their home gardens.
This comes as part of the Hadith when the prophet Muhammad said: “If one of you has a seedling in his hand, let him plant it”. The Campaign has recently launched by An-Najah National University to plant trees in schools, parks, institutions, and public facilities, so far, the center has planted 277 plants, and plans over 3,000 trees over the next 3 years. This initiative occurs as part of the university's commitment to work towards achieving sustainable development goals and utilizing its capabilities for the benefit of society and the environment.
