The CSC carried out an urgent humanitarian intervention to rehabilitate the roof of a home inhabited by a low-income family in the Old City of Nablus. The work included comprehensive treatment of the roof using specialized insulation materials, including asphalt rolls, to create leak-proof layers and fully seal existing cracks. This intervention will protect the home from future moisture, reduce health risks, and improve the overall safety of the living environment.
The beneficiary family consists of three individuals living in a modest, family-owned house that had suffered significant structural damage to the roof. Deep cracks allowed rainwater to seep in, leading to high levels of humidity. These conditions posed serious health risks, including the potential for respiratory issues such as asthma, and contributed to the deterioration of the interior walls and the spread of black mold.
This intervention was carried out in response to an urgent humanitarian need and is part of the CSC’s broader efforts to improve living conditions and ensure safe and healthy housing for vulnerable families. The situation was made more critical by the family’s financial hardship, as the head of the household is currently unemployed and relies on irregular work that does not meet the family’s basic needs.
This project reflects the CSC’s continued commitment to its humanitarian and development mission, working to ease the burden on vulnerable families while supporting efforts to reduce poverty and promote the right to safe and dignified housing.
