The CSC implemented an urgent humanitarian project to rehabilitate the electrical network in the home of a needy family in the city of Nablus. This intervention aimed to improve safety conditions inside the house and provide a more secure and stable living environment, as part of the CSC’s ongoing programs to support economically vulnerable families and reduce the effects of worsening poverty.

The beneficiary family consists of a father, a mother, and six school-aged children, in addition to an elderly grandmother who suffers from chronic illnesses and requires continuous medical care and medication. The family lives in a modest rented home, where the electrical wiring was found to be severely damaged. This posed a direct and serious threat to the lives of family members,

particularly the children and the elderly, due to the high risk of electrical short circuits or fire.

The intervention responded to an urgent humanitarian need at a time when the family’s primary breadwinner is facing extremely difficult economic conditions. Although he is employed, the effects of the war, along with salary interruptions and irregular payments, have significantly limited his ability to meet his family’s basic needs. The partial amounts he receives from time to time are insufficient to cover daily living expenses, let alone the costs of medical treatment and medications required by his elderly mother.

This case highlights the deep impact of poverty on quality of life. Its effects go beyond limited income and extend to the loss of basic safety and adequate housing. Poverty places families in a cycle of deprivation, making even essential improvements, such as safe electrical infrastructure, beyond their reach. As a result, family members face ongoing health and psychological risks, while children’s well-being and educational stability are negatively affected.

With a financial contribution of 3,200 shekels, the CSC completely removed the unsafe electrical network and installed a new system in accordance with approved safety standards. This intervention eliminated the immediate danger inside the home and significantly improved the family’s sense of safety and human dignity.
