The Housing Rehabilitation Program, one of the CSC’s main programs, continued its intervention and rehabilitation work to improve the health and social conditions of a number of underprivileged families in Nablus and the surrounding residential areas. During the past period, several cases were completed thanks to generous funding from donors and friends of the CSC, in addition to revenue generated by the “Goodness Card” initiative, which university students and professors purchase to support the CSC’s various programs. This was achieved in partnership and cooperation with several local organizations. These cases, totaling four, were as follows:
In the case of (J.S.) in the Old City, he had a work injury that left him bedridden and unable to go to or use the toilet because it was an Arabic toilet that did not suit his health condition. The program intervened by modifying the toilet and installing a Western style toilet to meet his medical needs.
Another case was that of (M.A.) in the New Askar Camp. This poor family of five lived in a simple house that was damaged by a fire, which led to the destruction of the aluminum windows, furniture, and paint. The program assisted the family by installing new aluminum windows to protect them from the winter cold. Through other local organizations, the family also received support for painting the house and repairing the electrical wiring.
The case of (M.N.), the head of a poor family of eight in the town of Mithloon, involved a modest house that lacked the most basic health conditions for a dignified life. The house had old and deteriorated windows, and the bathroom and kitchen were in very poor condition and located on the upper floor. Through the charity cards initiative, the program installed new aluminum windows to replace the old ones. With the support of generous donors, the program also contributed to constructing a new bathroom and kitchen inside the house.
The case of (S.A.), a woman supporting a family of seven members, involved a simple house consisting of two rooms and a poorly maintained sanitary unit, with one room used as a kitchen. With the support of the local community, the program contributed to building a new kitchen separate from the rooms, providing the family with better use of space and improved living conditions.
In addition to these cases, the CSC provided engineering consultations and follow up for several other intervention works.
Mr. Osama Bani Odeh, the program coordinator, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all those who contributed to and participated in completing these cases, whether through material or moral support, especially the students of the community service course who support the CSC by promoting the “Goodness Card” initiative to fund its activities, particularly the housing rehabilitation program for impoverished families, which aims to improve the living and health conditions of needy families by rehabilitating their homes.
