Othman Bin Affan Basic School for Girls in Nablus recently hosted an agricultural activity that included the planting of eight olive trees within the school grounds. This initiative is part of an educational and environmental effort to enhance the school environment and expand green spaces across Nablus and its surrounding villages, particularly in light of the ongoing decline in vegetation cover. The CSC focuses on identifying even small areas suitable for planting, especially in locations where water sources are available to ensure irrigation during the summer months.

The activity was carried out with the active participation of the school’s teaching staff, who played a central role in implementing the initiative. Their involvement underscored the school’s commitment to environmental stewardship and to strengthening students’ connection to the land through practical and sustainable activities.

The initiative aims to transform school spaces into dynamic learning environments that promote environmental awareness, encourage positive attitudes toward agriculture and natural resources, and support national efforts related to food security and the preservation of green cover.

These activities align with An-Najah National University’s vision of expanding community-based environmental work and strengthening partnerships with educational institutions to achieve a lasting impact on environmental protection and the development of a more sustainable society.
