The CSC organized a special social and humanitarian event aimed at supporting senior citizens psychologically and socially, in cooperation with the Elderly Home of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the Social Charity Center Society, and the Al-Khair Forum Committee. The event was held in an atmosphere of warmth, appreciation, and respect for this valued segment of society.
Approximately 50 elderly men and women participated in the event, including 15 residents of the nursing home, in addition to several beneficiaries of the CSC’s elderly support program. The program provides continuous care and assistance through material support and essential services, including medical treatment, sanitary supplies, and assistive medical devices. It also includes regular psychological and social support activities. The CSC currently supervises and supports around 80 elderly individuals on an ongoing basis.
The event featured friendly gatherings and meaningful conversations with participants, alongside cultural competitions, interactive activities, religious chants, and traditional songs. These activities created an atmosphere of joy and connection, helping participants feel valued, included, and socially engaged.
The gathering concluded with a hot meal of kabsa prepared by the Mabarat Al-Khair kitchen of the Social Charity Center Society. Traditional Nablus sweets, koolaj, were also served through the support of the Al-Khair Forum Committee, reflecting a spirit of generosity and community solidarity.
Organizers emphasized that the event represented a strong example of cooperation and partnership among humanitarian and community institutions. Participants included Dr. Muawiya Al-Masri and Mr. Adnan Awda from the Social Charity Center Society, Mrs. Wafaa Tuffaha, Director of the Elderly Care Home, and community activist Mr. Imad Al-Lahham representing the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. In cooperation with Al-Etimad Taxi, transportation was arranged for the elderly participants to and from the event venue. A number of women from the Al-Khair Forum Committee also took part, alongside the Director of the CSC, Mr. Alaa Abu Dhahir.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to mental health, well-being, and social inclusion for all age groups. It also reinforces the values of compassion and solidarity toward senior citizens, recognizing their lifelong contributions, wisdom, and experiences as an essential part of society deserving of care, dignity, and respect.
