The Housing Rehabilitation Program at the CSC of An-Najah National University has begun rehabilitating homes for poor families in villages across the Nablus Governorate. The program is funded by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) through the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. It is expected to rehabilitate more than 60 homes for families suffering from poor environmental and health conditions.

According to Program Coordinator Osama Bani Odeh, the initiative aims to create a healthy and safe living environment that supports a decent life for poor families whose financial situations prevent them from maintaining or renovating their homes. He added that the program also seeks to mobilize community resources by encouraging local and international partnerships and donations to help fund additional cases.

It is worth mentioning that the Housing Rehabilitation Program for Poor Families is one of the CSC’s main programs. It plays an important role in empowering poor families and marginalized groups. The program began in 1999 with support from charitable individuals in Nablus and later through external grants. Since its inception, it has completed more than 410 rehabilitation cases in the city of Nablus and its surrounding villages, with funding from the Multaqa Al-Khair Fund and international partners such as the Rafid Project, the British Consulate, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the OPEC Fund (OFID).

Nuha Dweikat, a social researcher with the program, emphasized that rehabilitation efforts extend beyond technical engineering work. They also include psychosocial support and social empowerment activities aimed at improving the overall quality of life for beneficiary families.
