The Community Service Center at An-Najah National University invested a total of 1,055,487 shekels during the 2024–2025 academic year in a wide range of humanitarian and community programs, according to its recently released annual report.

The report noted that these projects were primarily funded by the Multaqa Al-Kheir Forum Committee, which contributed 401,068 shekels. Additional support came from university students enrolled in the Community Service and Sustainable Development course, who raised 427,600 shekels through the orphan sponsorships.


Expenditures covered grants, loans, financial and humanitarian aid, housing rehabilitation, healthcare support, orphan sponsorships, and assistance for the elderly and those in need. The center provided financial grants totaling 135,131 shekels to 145 orphans, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. It also offered 223 students' interest-free loans amounting to 244,515 shekels. In the area of housing rehabilitation, the center renovated nine homes for disadvantaged families, upgraded four health facilities at the National Hospital, refurbished the morgue at Rafidia Hospital, and renovated a children’s park in the Old City. These efforts cost 140,143 shekels.

The center further sponsored 144 orphaned and vulnerable families with a total of 268,444 shekels. Direct financial assistance reached 136 families (89,895 shekels), while material aid such as household appliances, furniture, clothing, and food amounted to 17,682 shekels. Other contributions included sanitary pads for 60 beneficiaries (32,402 shekels), daily bread for 10 families (12,390 shekels), and school bags and stationery for 190 children (4,880 shekels).

Healthcare support included medical examinations, medications, eyeglasses, and speech and physical therapy for 58 beneficiaries, valued at 30,306 shekels. The Autism Fund supported two cases at a cost of 37,690 shekels. Meanwhile, 2,735 students participating in the Community Service course contributed 73,770 hours of volunteer work across charitable and public institutions. Additionally, 3,325 students donated 4,907 units of blood. Environmental initiatives involved 790 students planting wheat, legumes, and vegetables on campus, while 136 students received training in first aid, firefighting, rescue, and elderly care.

The center also launched a large-scale tree-planting campaign across 19 schools and institutions, planting 337 fruit trees. Students further planted 425 trees in their home gardens, with a total budget of 9,770 shekels. Another 23,339 shekels was dedicated to improving school environments, including providing shade and rain protection and creating educational murals in playgrounds.

Toward the end of the year, 71 students volunteered to tutor 118 underachieving students, in cooperation with the Education Directorate and the municipalities of Asira al-Shamaliya and Qabalan.

In its report, the Community Service Center expressed gratitude to the Good Forum Committee, donors, and students for their generous contributions. It reaffirmed An-Najah University’s commitment to social responsibility, human dignity, and the advancement of sustainable development goals in Palestinian society.
