There is an increasing need to care for elderly individuals who live alone due to various family circumstances. Some are widowed, some have no children, and others have lost their family members, leaving them without support or companionship. It is well known that elderly people who enjoy family and community support lead happier and more stable lives. Therefore, it is our humanitarian and social duty to ensure that they live in an environment that respects their dignity and values their lifelong contributions.
The CSC pays special attention to this group, currently supporting 55 elderly men and women who live alone. The center regularly checks on their well-being and works to meet their personal and daily needs. Some require home repairs, others need heating in winter, financial assistance, medication, sanitary supplies, or medical examinations.
The CSC’s role extends beyond financial support. It strives to promote social inclusion for the elderly through regular gatherings and community activities. Over the past few years, the center has organized more than 100 meetings and social events that bring together elderly individuals living alone and those in nursing homes. These activities help reduce isolation and foster genuine human connection. They also give the elderly a chance to talk, share meals, and enjoy a family-like atmosphere—moments they eagerly look forward to.
For more than twenty years, the CSC has maintained this program as a model for supporting and caring for the elderly. Support comes in many forms, such as financially, socially, and emotionally. This ongoing work reflects the center’s deep humanitarian commitment to this cherished segment of society.
The CSC affirms that caring for the elderly is not only a social responsibility but also a reflection of a society’s progress and compassion. It embodies the principles of equality and the right to live with dignity in conditions befitting their age and contributions. This mission aligns with the university’s vision of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by supporting all segments
