As part of its ongoing psychosocial support program in hospitals, a program of the CSC at An-Najah National University, a recreational activity was held for children at the Arab Evangelical Hospital. The activity focused on children scheduled for surgery, providing entertainment to help reduce pre-operative anxiety. A team of volunteers acted as clowns, performing acrobatic and fun acts, with participation adapted to each child’s health condition. The activity was coordinated with the hospital administration and social worker Nimat Shaheen.
Dina Al-Qaddoumi, program coordinator, noted that the event, held on Monday, January 20, 2014, was very well received by both the children and their families, who observed its positive effect on the children’s psychological well-being.
Al-Qaddoumi added that this activity continues the program’s ongoing efforts to support patients, especially those with chronic illnesses such as kidney failure and thalassemia. The program provides psychosocial support and practical assistance to improve patients’ quality of life. Recently, winter supplies were distributed to kidney failure patients at the dialysis clinic in An-Najah National Hospital, and nutritious meals were donated through the CSC.
