As part of the OPEC Fund for International Development grant provided by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and in partnership with the Municipality of Qabalan, the Housing Rehabilitation Program for poor families has completed the necessary rehabilitation work on the home of one of the program’s beneficiary families in the town of Qabalan.

The rehabilitation included essential maintenance, the construction of a new room for the family, and the renovation of the kitchen and bathroom. Program Coordinator Osama Bani Odeh noted that this case is one of the many success stories the program has achieved since its inception thirteen years ago

He explained, “The program has so far completed the rehabilitation of 45 community housing cases and public facilities, including five schools, in partnership with local residents as well as local and international institutions in villages across the Nablus Governorate. In addition to housing rehabilitation, this grant also supports psychosocial services for homeowners and marginalized groups. The program’s activities in this area have included ten awareness and educational courses, as well as twenty recreational activities and trips designed to bring joy and relief to children and families in the communities where we work.”

Engineer Bani Odeh added that the program’s primary goal is to improve the living conditions of poor families, including those registered with social services, while upholding the human right to adequate housing. He emphasized that the active participation of homeowners and local communities is essential to the success of the program’s activities. He also acknowledged the dedication of the program’s working team, which includes Engineer Walaa Kilani and social workers Rana Awad and Bahij Nassar.
