With the participation of 506 male and female students from the Community Service course, representing various disciplines and colleges and coming from diverse backgrounds and places of residence, the garden next to the playgrounds on the old campus was cleaned, rehabilitated, and planted across an area of 2 dunams. This work took place over 21 days of volunteer activity, totaling 7,540 volunteer hours during the first and second semesters of the 2024–2025 academic year.

The area was first cleared of dirt, weeds, and stones. The land was then manually plowed to prepare it for planting, followed by the cultivation of wheat, chickpeas, peas, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and gherkins. The crops were regularly irrigated and weeded, and once harvested, the produce was distributed to the student volunteers.

The CSC emphasizes that the value of this work goes beyond production. It also focuses on raising awareness and providing agricultural education, strengthening students’ connection to the land, and reinforcing the religious and national values that encourage attachment to and preservation of the land.

The CSC also believes in the importance of hands-on fieldwork, which helps develop a generation of young people capable of turning ideas into projects that support local communities. These projects enable people to remain on their land, rely on what they produce, conserve natural resources, and foster a spirit of cooperation and community participation through various volunteer initiatives.

As part of its vision, An-Najah National University, through its recently launched afforestation campaign, seeks to raise environmental awareness within the community, which is an essential part of environmental work. The initiative aims to increase green spaces and promote afforestation in cooperation with governmental and local authorities. The university is committed to promoting social responsibility and providing practical volunteer opportunities that contribute to the protection and sustainability of the local environment and advance sustainable development.
