The Community Service Center has completed the rehabilitation work on the home of a needy family in the city of Nablus, consisting of a widow and three daughters, who live in a modest house under difficult economic and living conditions that have weighed heavily on them and deprived them of the most basic means of stability. The rehabilitation work included addressing water leakage and the resulting damage, repairing and replacing sanitary fixtures, rehabilitating the sewage network, retiling the walls and floors, replacing the plumbing installations and the old network, in addition to installing a new door in place of the damaged one.
The house suffered from an escalating problem inside the bathroom, represented by damage to the sanitary fixtures and the sewage network, along with water leakage that extended to the neighbors’ apartment on the lower floor, causing damage, health hazards, and recurring problems that increased the family’s suffering and embarrassment, at a time when they did not have the financial ability to carry out the necessary repairs.
The mother lives without a job or a steady source of income, while her three daughters have no brother or provider, and the family has no other income or property to support them in facing life’s burdens. Two of the daughters also suffer from vision problems.
For a family struggling every day to secure its basic needs, this was not just a broken pipe or a floor in need of maintenance, but a daily problem affecting their health, privacy, and safety inside their home.
Though these works may seem simple on the surface, for this family they meant a great deal: being able to use the bathroom without fear of another leak, living in a safer home, reducing causes of embarrassment and problems with neighbors, and regaining some privacy and peace of mind inside their house.
