The Community Service Center at An-Najah National University planted 3,113 trees as part of the afforestation campaign launched by the university in the fall of 2024 under the slogan "And in the hand of one of you is a sapling; let him plant it," where the trees were planted in schools, institutions, gardens, students’ homes, and poor families, with a focus on selecting locations that allow for the care, watering, and preservation of the trees. The campaign exceeded its initial goal of planting three thousand trees, reaching 3,113 trees by the end of August 2026, including 1,098 olive trees, 571 forest trees, 23 citrus trees, and 1,421 fruit-bearing trees in the gardens of students’ homes irrigated with water, in various cities and villages of the West Bank and the Palestinian interior, in addition to 80 forest trees planted around An-Najah National University Hospital.

The Community Service Center worked on establishing drip irrigation networks in some of the schools that were planted, to facilitate the regular provision of water to the seedlings, reduce waste, and ensure growth, especially during the hot summer months.

The campaign involved 41 schools, with the participation of 977 male and female students, and also benefited 35 families, reflecting the educational dimension of the initiative, as the planting process became a practical experience to strengthen students’ connection to the land, entrench responsible environmental behavior, and link education with community service.
